The meaning for the word fashion can be summarized as “Out With The Old, In With The New”.    Fashion trends are generally followed by youngsters and it becomes a lifestyle.  Something new always arise curiosity and trendsetters in fashion are the modern youth.

The outdated fashion is replaced with new innovations and the world is captivated in its orbit.

Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, tattoos or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behavior and the newest creations of textile designers.  Because the more technical term costume is regularly linked to the term "fashion", the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while "fashion" generally means clothing, including the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgynous.

The Ramp Walk OR Catwalk --

The girls walk with one foot in front of the other undulating sways the hips to a classy style like a cat paws its steps. 

In fashion, a runway, catwalk or ramp is a narrow, usually flat platform that runs into an auditorium or between sections of an outdoor seating area, used by models to demonstrate clothing and accessories during a fashion show. In fashion jargon, "what's on the catwalk" or similar phrasing can refer to whatever is new and popular in fashion.

   

This year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will take place in New York, United States of America,  day after tomorrow,  10^th  November, 2015.  This is the 20^th year in succession the fashion event “Victoria’s Secret’ is happening globally.

This year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will feature Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, and Gigi Hadid, among others.

The above mentioned names are the most promising newcomers in the International Fashion arena.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2015 is an annual fashion show sponsored by Victoria's Secret, a brand of lingerie and sleepwear. Victoria's Secret uses the show to promote and market its goods in high-profile settings. The show features some of the world's leading fashion models.

Some of the bold-faced names that will sashay down the famous runway include Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, and Gigi Hadid 
.

On Thursday, Oct. 29, Hadid made headlines  after a video of her breaking down in tears of joy went viral. The 20-year-old Sports Illustrated model had just strutted her stuff in front of chief marketing officer of Victoria's Secret, Ed Razek, when the exec asked her, “What are you doing Nov. 9th and 10th?”

“I don’t know!” Hadid manages to say before Razek follows up with, “Why don’t you come join us?”

The emerging supermodel later shared a screen grab of the video on Instagram, telling fans that it’s been a “dream” of hers forever to walk the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Jenner, also 20, received news that she’d be walking the runway on Tuesday, Nov. 3 — a perfect birthday present to top off a successful year for the model, who is also starring in campaigns for Calvin Klein, Balmain, and Balmain for H&M.

A Beauty Pageant is a competition in which the entrants, usually women, are judged as to physical beauty and sometimes personality and talent, with the winners awarded prizes or titles.  We know that there are national beauty pageants in India and the winners of whom will represent the country in international beauty contests.  The contestants are in the age group of 20-24 years.  Many Indian girls have won international beauty pageants such as Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Earth titles. 

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Diana Haydon and Yukta Mookhey to name a few contestants who won the world titles.

Godrej Miss World 1996 – Irene Skliva the Greek Goddess

 The definition of beauty was written large on her petite face.  She was indeed an Aphrodite the Greek Goddess of Beauty.  The writer had the privilege of meeting her in person when she visited the Godrej Empire’s headquarters at Vikhroli, Mumbai campus.  She looked serene and pious apart from a stunning beauty.  It was Mumbai’s dazzling socialite and well known celebrity party host, the incomparable Ms. Parameshwar Godrej behind the Godrej Miss World 1996 Pageant and she co-chaired the event with the founder of Miss World Pageant Ms. Julia Morley.  The Miss World pageant is the oldest surviving major international Beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant.  Ms. Godrej the woman who single-handedly put India on the global map ably supported by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s ABCL. Godrej is the most trusted brand name in India and a corporate house with enviable corporate culture.

India’s Garden City Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium was the venue for Miss World 1996 contest.  The entertainment included Caparisoned Elephants, Big Colorful Umbrellas OR “Muthukkudas”, music of Cymbals and Drums, Kathakali dancers and martial arts “Kalaripayattu” among other items.

The stage design has come a long way and the creation of stages for the international pageant is brilliant nowadays.  The color theme and stage design go hand in hand and most trendsetting today.

The beauty pageants have most renowned names as celebrity judges from various fields.  The sub-categories of the winners include Miss congeniality, Miss Beautiful Eyes, Hair,  Best gown and clothes, best personality and intelligent quotient.

The confidence of the contestants, the ability to sashay the bikini round and brilliantly designed gowns by best dress designers in the world all contribute towards a riveting and admiring audience.

Due to the presence of the trouble shooters and the so called moral custodians of the country, the bikini round nowadays happens inside the closed doors in India in the qualifying pageant of “Miss India”  which is a stepping stone for participation in big International beauty pageants.

Paris the Fashion Capital  -

Paris has been ruling the high seas of fashion for more than three centuries. During this time it has attracted the world’s foremost designers and seemingly imbued its citizens with an innate sense of style. For these, and plenty of other reasons, Paris can still rightly claim its title of world fashion capital.

Paris fashion week

The Paris Fashion Week is the finale of the big four fashion weeks – the others being Milan Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, and New York Fashion Week. Held predominantly in the Carrousel du Louvre, Paris fashion week helps dictate what the world will be wearing next season.

Best designers

The world’s best designers have always operated from Paris. It is currently home to the headquarters of Rochas, Vuitton, Balenciaga, Céline, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Chloe, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Hermès and Lanvin.

Haute couture

The concept of haute couture (‘high sewing’ or ‘high dressmaking’ or ‘high fashion’) was invented in Paris. Though it originally refereed to Englishman-in-Paris Charles Frederick Worth’s work, the term has become a ‘protected name’ in France, meaning that it can only be used by companies that meet certain well-regulated standards.

People

Some of the most stylish people on the planet were born in Paris. These include Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, Anne Parillaud, Juliette Binoche and Jeanne Moreau.

Golden triangle

Paris provides the ultimate dose in high-end fashion. In an area bordered by the Champs-Elysées, Avenue Montaigne and Avenue Marceau, visitors can find the world’s top design houses – from Dior to Chanel to Yves Saint Laurent.

Bikini

The bikini was invented in Paris by the French automobile engineer Louis Réard and fashion designer Jacques Heim in 1946. The item embodies French style in its timeless simplicity.

Fashion trade unions

Paris retains a powerful fashion trade union known as the Fédération française de la couture. Created in 1973, the Federation is dedicated to protecting French fashion and consists of three entities – the trade union of high fashion, the trade union of men’s fashion, and the trade union of women’s fashion.

Fashion school

Paris is home to the world’s foremost fashion school – the Ecole de la chambre syndicale de la couture parisienne. Immersing yourself within the fashion capital requires at least basic understanding of the language, schools such as ESL (http://www.esl.co.uk) give you the opportunity to learn French in Paris and make the most of an amazing city.

History

Parisians have the most experience of high fashion. Couturier houses were first established in the city in 1858.

Little black dress

The LBD was invented in Paris by Coco Chanel in the 1920s. The simple, relatively short and versatile garment is now considered an essential element of any woman’s wardrobe.

Paris was always considered the Fashion’s Mecca.

 

Lakme Fashion Week 2015: Celebs on the ramp -

The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 concluded on August 30, 2015. It was marked by dazzling appearances by several Bollywood celebs. While some took to the ramp to become showstoppers for designers, others attended the event as special guests.

To celebrate 15 years of Lakme Fashion Week this year, its organisers have planned interesting things like presenting a line up of 100 designers, including those by 21 debutantes.

“We are excited about this season as we celebrate 15 years. There will be a mix of established as well as new designers. We want to redefine fashion with ace designers and encourage new talent as well,” Purnima Lamba, Head Innovations Lakme, told reporters.

There will be 100 designers this season including 21 debut designers, Lamba said adding 11 new models will walk on the ramp at this year’s gala.

Ace Indian designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla will open Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 and designer Gaurav Gupta will present the Grand Finale collection at an off-site location.

Established designers like Manish Malhotra, Ritu Kumar, Tarun Tahiliani, Neeta Lulla, Narendra Kumar and others will showcase their “best-ever” collection.  

Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Anita Dongre, Rohit Bal, Ritu Berry, Bhanu Athaiya and  Wendell Rodricks are  some of the other Indian designers.
